The Cortland County Health Department has announced the mobile mammography van will visit Cortland on Friday, October 18th at the Cortland County Health Department located at 60 Central Ave. in the CIty of Cortland. The Health Department says the van will be on-location from 10am to 5pm with appointments now being accepted.
The mobile mammography van offers services for patients who have missed their mammography due to lack of health insurance. The Cancer Service Program is providing assistance with offering free mammograms to eligible uninsured women. The Health Department says you are eligible to use the van for breast screening if you’re age 40 or older, do not have a history of breast surgery or had a biopsy more than 1 year ago and you have no current breast problems or symptoms with benign results and no further problems.
To find out if you’re eligible for low or no cost screenings, you must call the Cancer Services Program at 607-758-5523. If you are eligible, you may call 607-798-5723 to schedule an appointment.
The mammography van comes from Guthrie Lourdes Hospital. You do not need to be a patient of Lourdes to participate. Results can be sent to a provider of the patient’s choice. No referral is needed.
