Apple launched two new iPads today. These are the seventh-generation iPad Air and the eleventh-generation iPad. The new Air is sequel to the model from 2024, while the base iPad refresh is coming after nearly three years. As expected, both iPads are getting a brand-new chip which is M3 on the Air and A16 on the base iPad. The choice of chip on the entry-level model means Apple Intelligence isn’t supported, which makes it the only Apple hardware launched recently to lack the company’s suit of AI features. The M3 Air will support them, much in the same way like the M2 version from 2024.

iPad Air 7, iPad 11: Specs, features
The real big upgrade across both the 2025 iPad and iPad Air models is the underlying chip. The Air comes powered by the M3 chip with an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU whereas its predecessor had the M2. Apple is claiming up to 35 percent faster multithreaded performance and up to 40 percent faster graphics over M1. The Neural Engine—which facilitates Apple Intelligence—is said to be up to 60 percent faster for “AI-based workloads.”
On the base iPad, Apple is promising up to 50 percent improvement in overall performance compared to the iPad with A13 Bionic.
Rest of the hardware and design are do-overs. The colour options are also the same—space gray, starlight, purple, and blue for Air; blue, pink, yellow, and silver for iPad.
