Pixel 9a has launched in the market this week and here’s our detailed iPhone 16E price, specs and camera comparison of the mid-range phones.

Pixel 9a and iPhone 16E are the new mid-range premium phones from the brands.
The Pixel 9a has launched in the market this week and the first thing people would say is, the new iPhone 16E rival. In many ways that’s true. After all, this is the supposed mid-ranger model for Google while the 16E is Apple’s new entry-level model in the market. Google does manage to shade it slightly with better AI support than its rival, and the lower price tag compared to the iPhone 16E also helps us make a better case for the Pixel 9a.
But this is Apple and the value of the brand works unlike any other badge. So, how does the Pixel 9a compare with the iPhone 16E in terms of the price, features and more. Here are the details you are looking for.
iPhone 16E vs Pixel 9a: Price In India
Pixel 9a has launched in India at Rs 49,999 and will be available from April in the country. The iPhone 16E is available in three variants, with a starting price of Rs 59,900 which makes it almost Rs 10,000 more than what you can get the Pixel 9a for in the market. The highest 512GB iPhone 16E will cost you Rs 89,900 in the country.
iPhone 16E vs Pixel 9a: Design And Display
iPhone 16E gets a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with standard 60Hz refresh rate. Google has given Pixel 9a a bigger 6.3-inch Actua pOLED display that gets up to 120Hz refresh rate and 2700 nits peak brightness. The design looks slightly different on the Pixel 9a while the iPhone 16E looks more like the older iPhone 14 version with its wide notch, and a single camera unit at the back.
iPhone 16E vs Pixel 9a: Performance And UI
Apple is using its latest A18 chipset for the iPhone 16E which also powers the premium iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models. You now get it with 8GB RAM which means AI features from Apple will be supported by this device. Apple has 128GB, 256GB and 512GB variants for the new device.
Google is also powering the device with its flagship Tensor G4 chipset and 8GB RAM. You get 128GB and 256GB storage models this year.
Apple is giving you the latest iOS 18 version out of the box with at least 6 years of updates available for the 16E. Google is doing one better this year, offering 7 years of OS and security updates for the Pixel 9a like its flagship variants. And you get Android 15 out of the box, with the 16 version expected to roll out in the next few months.
iPhone 16E vs Pixel 9a: Cameras
The new iPhone only has a single 48MP camera at the back and a 12MP front camera for FaceTime and video recording. With the Pixel 9a, you get a 48MP primary sensor with OIS + EIS and a 13MP Ultrawide lens at the back. The phone features a 13MP selfie shooter.
iPhone 16E vs Pixel 9a: Battery And Charging
We don’t know the exact battery details for the iPhone 16E but it also supports 20W charging with the adapter you have to buy separately. Google is also going charger-less but the 5,100mAh battery supports 23W wired and 7.5W wireless charging speeds.
iPhone 16E vs Pixel 9a: What We Think
The Pixel 9a has a lot of good things, including its mature AI tools and features via Gemini. The 7 years of OS updates is a welcome move as well. But even though the iPhone 16E costs Rs 10,000 more, you expect people to consider it for the brand and more for its hardware and specs.
