- Lokko is a new creation from developer Appy Monkeys
- This India-based developer created it in conjunction with Sony’s India Hero Project
- Lokko offers cross-play with mobile, PC and PS5, and Dualshock features for all three
When it comes to development hubs, one of the less discussed areas of the world is in India. Well, not on our end of course as we’ve often looked at upcoming projects like Indus Battle Royale, and wondered aloud about what it says about the future of Indian game development. It seems that the future might be here now, with the upcoming 3D platformer Lokko.
Lokko comes courtesy of Sony’s India Hero Project, which is an incubator that works with Indian developers to help develop their next hit release. Developer Appy Monkeys have created Lokko as a result of this partnership, a 3D platformer packed with level editors and an in-depth avatar creator; the objective? Deliver pizzas on time while duking it out with the monopolistic Goobol food corporation.
The most interesting part of this project? It’s the fact that Lokko is not only cross-platform but also cross-play compatible and uses the power of Dualshock in all its versions.
Lokko-motion
It’s not hard to see that Lokko offers all the greatest hits of many modern success stories in gaming. Lokko has character customisation, level creation and a relatively low-poly aesthetic, similar to something like Roblox. But at the same time, this comes backed with the power of PlayStation and plenty of potential to offer a credible alternative to that aforementioned platform.
Gameplay-wise, it doesn’t look as if we’re reinventing the wheel, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what developers Appy Monkeys have in the works. And I’m certainly excited to see what else arrives from the India Hero Project too.
While we don’t have a solid release date on Lokko (aside from sometime this year) you can still check out another excellent indie release that’s just gone cross-platform in the shape of eldritch fishing simulator Dredge from Black Salt Games!
