Apple has launched a new Mac Studio “pro” level Mac desktop computer. The refresh has come after a near two-year wait. The last version was launched at MWC 2023. Naturally, the gap is bringing even more ridiculous amount of power, than what was probably possible with the M2-based 2023 model.
The gap has also given Apple time to sort out its product-line, with the new launch leaving room for a proper differentiation with the Mac Pro, in the future. Until now, both Mac Studio and Mac Pro, were about at the same level when clearly, the Pro is supposed to be a more powerful system. The Mac Studio in 2025 comes in a choice of M4 Max and get this, M3 Ultra, not M4 Ultra, as you would probably have expected. The Mac Pro update—as and when it comes—should introduce the “almighty” M4 Ultra. But we digress.
The Mac Studio with M3 Ultra is the most powerful Mac Apple has ever made. The idea with these devices is always to offer those who might need it, the power and potential to cater to their every whim and fancy. And the pricing matches the bonkers specs which is an excellent segue into what this piece is about: how much does it cost to “max out” the 2025 Mac Studio?
Before we dig in, let us tell you the base pricing, which is the minimum that you’ll pay to get a new Mac Studio. This would obviously vary on the type of chip you opt for. There are two choices, as we have mentioned before. These are the M4 Max and M3 Ultra. Depending on the chip, your RAM and storage—and other specs—will change accordingly.
The Mac Studio with M4 Max has a starting price of Rs 2,14,900 in India. This will get you an M4 Max chip with a 14-core CPU, 32-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine, 36GB of unified memory, and 512GB of SSD. The Mac Studio with M3 Ultra is priced starting Rs 4,29,900 for a version with 28-core CPU, 60-core GPU and 32-core Neural Engine, 96GB of unified memory, and 1TB of SSD.
The M3 Ultra models ship with two Thunderbolt 5 ports and one SDXC card slot on the front and four Thunderbolt 5 ports, two USB-A ports, one HDMI port, one 10Gb Ethernet port, and 3.5mm headphone jack on the back. The M3 Max version keeps everything but swaps the front Thunderbolt 5 with two USB Type-C ports.
So, what about the top-end configuration? Well, this is how it would look like: M3 Ultra with a 32-core CPU, 80-core GPU and 32-core Neural Engine, 512GB of unified memory, and 16TB of SSD. And the price?
Drum roll…
It is Rs 14,39,900.
