Guwahati: Mobile internet services will be suspended from 8.30 am to 4 pm on Sunday across the state to ensure smooth and fair conduct of a govt recruitment exam, an official notification said on Friday.
Voice calls and broadband connectivity based on fixed telephone lines will remain functional during this period.
The decision to suspend these services aims to maintain a “free, fair, and transparent written examination”, while preventing any potential law and order issues that could threaten public safety.
The upcoming written examinations for Grade 4 posts, conducted by Assam State School Education Board, will be held in two shifts across 28 districts on Sunday. A staggering 13,79,132 candidates have applied for the exam, highlighting the importance of maintaining the integrity of the process. Some centers have a history of malpractices, and there are concerns that unscrupulous elements may attempt to disrupt the exam process.TNN
