While tech reporters await Apple’s iPhone 16 event this afternoon, OnePlus squeaked out a last-minute reveal that it’s next flagship is coming in October.
Spotted by Android Authority, OnePlus China president Li Jie Louis revealed the October release in a Weibo post. While he didn’t say whether the flagship would be the OnePlus 13, it’s what we’re expecting the company to launch.
However, the rest of the Weibo post includes some interesting details. For example, Louis wrote that the phone would run on the “latest generation of flagship chips” from the team that “once designed epoch-making PC chips.” That sounds a lot like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the company’s upcoming system-on-a-chip (SoC), which is expected to include custom Oryon CPU cores that previously showed up in the company’s Snapdragon X chips for PCs.
Further, Louis boasts about the flagship’s performance, noting that it runs Genshin Impact at 120fps. Of course, it remains to be seen how things stack up in real-world use when the phone comes out, but that certainly sounds impressive.
While the Weibo post doesn’t share much else, we do have some idea of what to expect from the OnePlus 13 based on leaks. So far, it seems like the phone will include a 6.8-inch 2K display, a 6,000mAh (or higher) battery, and three rear 50-megapixel cameras.
As with previous OnePlus smartphones, the OnePlus will likely launch in China first before getting a global launch in the following months.
