Malaysian operator U Mobile has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Berjaya Rail to collaborate on implementing 5G solutions aimed at optimising operations and improving the traveller experience for Berjaya Rail’s upcoming projects. The partnership will see both companies leveraging their respective strengths: U Mobile will share its extensive network experience to plan 5G deployment, which will complement the operational insights provided by Berjaya Rail, the joint statement said.

Advanced 5G Solutions
This collaboration aims to ensure a high-quality, consistent 5G experience across railway alignments and stations. Additionally, U Mobile will offer knowledge on 5G-Advanced solutions that utilise Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance the efficiency and reliability of Berjaya Rail’s upcoming railway operations.
5G Adoption in Malaysia
U Mobile said, “Through this collaboration, we will be able to show how we can harness the power of 5G and 5G-Advanced to improve efficiencies and enhance services for various industries. In the case of Berjaya Rail, it is in the transport industry. As we prepare for the anticipated launch of Malaysia’s second 5G network, this is yet another initiative that underlines our commitment to encourage 5G adoption for consumers and enterprises across industries.”
Berjaya Land Berhad and Board Member of Berjaya Rail added, “By working with U Mobile, we aim to develop and enhance our proposals to enable integrated operations and maintenance to provide a safe, pleasant, and memorable experience for passengers.”

Plans for Berjaya Rail
Berjaya Rail, a subsidiary of Berjaya Land Berhad, is currently participating in the Request for Information (RFI) by MyHSR Corp for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project. The MoU was signed by the CEO of U Mobile and the CEO of Berjaya Rail.
